CHINOOK EQUESTRIAN CENTRE

CHINOOK EQUESTRIAN CENTRE (1978), is owned and operated by Klaus and Mary Lee Schurmann. For many years they were involved in breeding and raising Trakehner horses, starting with stock imported from Poland. Over the past few years, they have come to admire and promote the Andalusian horse.

Introduced to the breed by Carlos Laqua of Quatro L Andalusian Breeding Center, they had the opportunity to acquire his foundation stallion “Gurka”. Gurka combines the classic beauty of the Andalusian horse with tremendous strength and agility. These features, combined with an extremely responsive and calm temperament make him a pleasure to ride and handle. He possesses an elegant, flowing movement, exceptional conformation, and a lustrous copper-like dark bay colouring. His offspring reflect his calm temperament, agility and movement.

The Andalusian horse is incredibly versatile, exhibiting impulsion, agility, forward movement and a willing temperament. It can adapt to a multitude of disciplines, including dressage, driving, working trail horse, and of course, Doma Vaquera.

Gurka is standing at stud for the 2018 season to a limited number of mares. Frozen semen is available for purchase. Inquiries are welcome.
